Notes on ensembles as a model of theory choice

چکیده
This paper examines the foundations of the concept of effective complexity proposed by Murray Gell-Mann and Seth Lloyd using the methods of Bayesian inference. Given a data string, x Î 80, 1< of length x , an ensemble, E = 8X E , Ω E <, assigns a frequency, E@x 'D to strings x ' with x ' = x of the same length as the data string. Programs to compute ensemble frequencies partition (or coarse-grain) the set of strings into exclusive subsets

Phase transitions and random matrices
Phase transitions generically occur in random matrix models as the parameters in the joint probability distribution of the random variables are varied. They affect all main features of the theory and the interpretation of statistical models. In this paper a brief review of phase transitions in invariant ensembles is provided, with some comments to the singular values decomposition in complex no...
متن کاملRational Choice Theory: A Cultural Reconsideration
Economists have heralded the formulation of the expected utility theorem as a universal method of choice under uncertainty. In their seminal paper, Stigler and Becker (Stigler & Becker, 1977) declared that “human behavior can be explained by a generalized calculus of utility-maximizing behavior” (p.76). The universality of the rational choice theory has been widely criticized by psychologists, ...
متن کاملA High-Performance Model based on Ensembles for Twitter Sentiment Classification
Background and Objectives: Twitter Sentiment Classification is one of the most popular fields in information retrieval and text mining. Millions of people of the world intensity use social networks like Twitter. It supports users to publish tweets to tell what they are thinking about topics. There are numerous web sites built on the Internet presenting Twitter. The user can enter a sentiment ta...
متن کاملInvestigation of strong force influence on behavior of nuclear energy levels in Calcium and Titanium isotopes: Based on quantum chaos theory
The atomic nucleus is a complex many-body system that consists of two types of fermion (neutron and proton). They are in the strong interaction. The statistical properties of energy levels and influence of strong force between these fermions are well described by random matrix theory. Resonance of energy levels depends on the Hamiltonian symmetry placed in one of the GOE, GUE and GSE ensembles ...
متن کاملEffectiveness of group counseling based on choice theory on increasing intimacy and marital satisfaction and reducing marital conflicts in married women
Introduction: Marriage is described as the most important and the most basic human relationship. Increasing intimacy and marital satisfaction and reducing marital conflicts are among the most important components of a stable marriage. Counselling and therapies based on choice theory have been used as one of the effective methods on improving stable marriage components. This study was performed ...
